  • How much will I pay if I get CCIS?
You may be fully covered or you may have a co-pay. Your co-pay will depend on your family income. Once you are approved for the subsidy, you will receive a letter that will specify your weekly co-pay. For the summer camp, there is an additional entertainment fee for all the trips and shows.
  • Can you please provide more information about your free programs PHLPreK and PreK Counts?
PHLPreK and PreK Counts are government-funded educational PreK programs for Philadelphia families, that cover full school day from 8:30am to 2:00pm. Just like in our other programs, we guarantee:
⭐ Highest quality of education based on research-proven forward-thinking curriculum and Pennsylvania Learning Standards
⭐ Beautiful rooms in accordance with the highest standards for educational facilities
⭐ Big outdoor playgrounds
⭐ Professional teachers who treat children with love and respect
⭐ Exceptional preparation for school
⭐ Tasty and healthy homemade style meals
  • So, if my child gets a slot in the PreK Counts or PHLPreK program, I don't need to pay anything?
Correct. Your child's attendance is completely free if you only attend 8:30am - 2pm on school days (according to the Philadelphia School District calendar). If you want your child to come earlier, leave later, or attend during school breaks (except summer) and on the days the school district is closed (within the center's working hours), then your weekly co-pay is $160. Summer break is not covered by these programs. Summer childcare rate is $250/week. Summer Camp rate is $320/week to attend 5+ weeks and $350/week to attend for less than 5 weeks.
  • Will receiving this program affect our current benefits?
No, your current benefits will not be affected. This is just an additional benefit of high quality education for your children.
  • I still don't get how childcare can be free. What's the catch?
There is no catch. It is Philadelphia's initiative at helping children better  prepare for Kindergarten and ensuring their continued success in school.
  • How do I know whether my child is eligible for these free programs?
PHLPreK is available to 3 and 4 year-olds (on September 1st) who reside in the City of Philadelphia. There are no income or employment requirements.
PA Pre-K Counts is available to 3 and 4 year-olds (on September 1st) who reside in the City of Philadelphia. Family income must be no higher than 300% of poverty level. There are no employment requirements.
  • So, if my child is eligible, we can definitely get a slot in one of these free programs?

No, unfortunately slots are limited and not guaranteed, so we suggest getting on the waiting list and filling out all the paperwork as soon as possible in order to increase your chances for getting a free slot in one of our centers.

  • What paperwork is required to get on the waiting list for the free programs?

Please, refer to our Paperwork Page

  • What if we don't get a free slot? We just lose a year?

Unfortunately, as much as we would like to accommodate all the families, we have limited free slots. If you do not get a free slot, you have a few options:

☆ Enroll in a private pay program

☆ Inquire with other programs whether they still have free slots

☆ Wait for a slot to open up if a family moves from Philadelphia or miss too many days

  • What do you mean by "miss too many days"?

Ann Kids is strict about the attendance policy so that families that are eager to provide early childhood education to their children can have access to it. Therefore, unexcused absences that total more than 10 days over the course of the school year or overall absences that total more than 20 days over the course of the school year, are grounds for withdrawal of a child from the program so that the next child on the waiting list can benefit from the full-time access to education. Excuses must be provided in writing, signed by a parent and stamped by a physician.

  • You do not offer part-time at all?

No, we do not have a part-time option. Families can lose their free slot for missing too many days. Families must pay a flat rate fee for the week with no deduction for any absences, vacations, holidays, or closures due to inclement weather, power outages, or other situations beyond Ann Kids control. We ask families to think of it as a rental agreement: you do not stop paying your lease just because you get sick or you go on a vacation. As a courtesy, after 6 months of consistent attendance, families may use up to 10 weekdays per year for a vacation without having to pay tuition. A two weeks written notice is required.
